Cord-bound, production photo album, 25.7 by 18 cm, 20 leaves of which 17 are used. Near fine. Photo album of Millie Hagen’s July 1949 three-day trip to Niagara Falls with Thelma Southland and Agnes Menz. “In Detroit through the Holland Tunnel. Through Canada to Niagara & back through Canada.” Includes 46 black and white photographs, all neatly captioned in white ink, featuring several views of the Falls, the Maid of the Mist, Luna Island, Rainbow Bridge, etc. A beautiful album with crisp images that were wonderfully laid out.

[Chesterhill, Ohio], c early-1920s – 1941 Manuscript Paperback Fair Housed is a purpose-made, unbranded “Scrap Book,” 23 by 305 cm, 48 pp, all but 13 of which are decorated recto and verso Cover wear with chipping and small tears to the cover with a section of skinning on the upper corner of the front cover; the spine has chips and splits; the leaves are yellowed and quite brittle, with several chips and tears The scrapbook includes 130 Valentine cards, including movable, three-dimensional and gatefold cards, as well as several charming homemade cards, from family, friends and, of course, some love-struck boys – probably every card Pearl received during her primary and high school years One card appears to be missing and one is missing a die-cut head An adult, modern hand has gone through and labeled each card with the name of the giver and, in a couple instances, dates (1924, 1932) The album closes with 27 children-of-the-world-type cards clipped from cereal boxes or similar, and Pearl’s graduation announcement from Marion Township High School in Chesterhill, Ohio, May 20, 1941, along with 27 of her classmates’ name cards (three appear to be missing) On one of the pages is an image of the raising of the flag at Iwo Jima, 1945, “distributed by a United States disabled war veteran” Laid in are two unlabeled school pictures (os)
