Sewn wraps, 21 by 29.6 cm, 96 pp., illus. Interior is clean and bright, but the wraps have corner wear and creases, and rubbing, especially at the spine (see image). Originally issue by Temple Press (publishers of Cycling Weekly) in 1948, this 1992 reprint features, after a two-page intro by Temple’s Horace Button, ninety-four pages of Patterson’s bicycle and cycling illustrations – many of which are full-page. Patterson (1871-1952) was best known for his detailed and charming bicycle illustrations that depicted quaint scenes of the English countryside, with cyclists enjoying the narrow roads and pubs. A nostalgic view of a peaceful pastime.
