New York: Current Audio, Inc., 1972. First edition. Vinyl LP. Very Good +. Kamen, Jeff, ed. Current Audio Magazine Vol. 1 No. 1. New York: Current Audio, Inc., August-September 1972. LP, black vinyl with original inner sleeve, gatefold outer sleeve and gatefold insert. Record and insert are near fine, the outer sleeve has light rubbing on the edges and corners and some peeling on the spine edge. The first, and apparently only issue of Current, features a mix of politics, musicians, comedy, and sex. The track list includes: “Mick Jagger Speaks About Mick Jagger,” “Manson Will Escape! Says Ed Sanders” (in which Sanders calls Manson, Sirhan Sirhan and mass-murderer John Linley Frazier the “three horsemen of the apocalypse”), “Current Audio Comedy with Robert Klein,” “Teddy Kennedy on Youth, Dope, Abortion and His Future,” “Angela Davis Not Guilty!” (her comments to the press after being cleared of involvement in the 1970 Marin County courtroom shootings), “The Monty Python Flying Circus” (the “Spam” bit), “Elvis Presley’s News Conference” (heralded on the back cover of the sleeve as Presley’s “first and only press conference”), “The Killer Was a Narc” (in which a Federal Bureau of Narcotics’ agent killed a man during a bungled drug raid), “Bella Abzug Loses [her seat in Congress],” “Scoop’s Column – Audio Mix by Scoop Nisker” (an audio-collage type of thing), “[Ralph] Nader Group Hits Vega Despite Recall,” “Crime Watch” (on the Mafia), and “Sensuous You,” the results of the sex text on the LP’s insert. The insert is a four-panel gatefold with track listings, photographs that illustrate the tracks, a Manson-themed collage, and the “Sensuous You” sex test. Quite a collection of [mostly] unusual material. (os) First Edition.
