Leon Kibort by Anthony F. Kroll, nd, engraved with embossed arms, 8 by 11.4 cm. Unused, fine. Kroll is featured in American Bookplates (Butler, p. 97). Originally trained as an architect, Kroll (1914-1999) eventually opened a shop in Pasadena, California where most of his engraving work was done. “The majority of his bookplate,” says Butler, “evidently use a photo-engraving intaglio process which enables him to reproduce the original artist’s work accurately and add an element of originality.”
