Book Condition: Very Good

Vinyl LP in original sleeve, mono. The LP is very good with only a few faint scratches – the sound is excellent. The center labels have library sticker and discard stamps. The sleeve is well-worn with rubbing, yellowing, side splits, small spots of skinning, shelf numbers in pen, discard stamps, and a shelving label that is attached by a single corner. From the Pacifica Archive, a “documentary on the City Council hearings about censoring literature in the Richmond Public Library. The recording was made on August 26, 1968 at the Richmond, California City Council Meeting. The last issue on the agenda that night was the issue as to whether or not the Berkeley Barb, the Los Angeles Free Press, and the Avant Garde magazine should continue in the Richmond City Library. Acting mayor George Livingston presides. Members of the Richmond community speak on both sides of the issue, including some members of the Ban the Barb Committee, as well as a representative from the ACLU. Contains actuality of the meeting and interviews, including one with the librarian, John Forsman.” A fascinating widow into censorship and the arguments of “if we ban these, what will be next?” versus “if we allow these, what will be next?”
