Over the Old Ozark Trails in the Shepherd of the Hills Country [Signed]

By: [Harold Bell Wright] Spurlock, Pearl

Price: $50.00

Quantity: 1 available

Book Condition: Very Good

Hardcover, no jacket, burgundy cloth with gilt and blue cover titles and decorations, 14.5 by 20.4 cm, 130 pp., illus. with 63 photos. Very good with light wear to the foot of the spine and lower corner of the front cover, and some faint foxing here and there. The ffep is signed and inscribed by Spurlock twice: “‘Sparky’ Pearl Spurlock, Branson Missouri. ‘Shepherd of the Hills, Guide’” and “To Estelle and Frank, with every good wish, ‘Sparky.’” In a different hand is written “Oct-44 / where we honey mooned.” Also on the ffep are several stamps including special delivery and “canceled” stamps, and, oddly, a cancellation stamp dated Aug. 22, 1926, nearly two decades prior to the publication of this edition. A home-spun history of a part of the Ozarks made famous by The Shepherd of the Hills by Harold Bell Wright, and a letter from Wright to the author acts as an introduction to this well-illustrated chronicle.
