Hardcover with dust jacket, brown cloth with black spine titles and Rockwell Kent graphics on front cover, brown topstain, 14 by 21 cm, 445 pp. The hardcover is very good with only faint signs of shelf wear. The front pastedown bears James Goode’s anteater bookplate engraved by Richard Wagener, and the ffep has a couple small spots of skinning from the bookplate’s glue. The jacket is fair with light soiling, tanning, and small chips and tears to the edges. Rockwell Kent provided the art for the jacket, frontis, and book cover. From the front flap: “This is the story of one man the women who filled his life: his first young love, his wives, his friends, his daughter, and, finally, his mistress; the women who ‘took hold of him.’ Like Mr. Norris’s famous novel Seed, Zest is a dramatic and daringly honest presentation of one of the fundamental elements of life.”
