Wraps, 15.8 by 24.2 cm, xxii [1] 170 pp., two-page map following the titles page, two small illus. accompanying poems. Condition is fair with edge wear and chips to the wraps, including corner loss, and wear to the head and tail of the spine. The interior is clean with light yellowing. The text block has minor edge wear and small chips/tears on the edges of a few pages only. The map is intact and in very good condition. A scarce catalog of plants of the Grand Rapids area, published by the author in 1901. Following an introduction by Cole, which includes the different ecological regions of the Grand Rapids area, is a detailed catalog of plants arranged by scientific name. Includes an index of both scientific and common names. Some listings are very basic including name and growing conditions, but many have locations in the West Michigan area, notes on their dicovery, and their presence in herbariums. The map includes Grand Rapids, as well as Wright, Alpine, Plainfield, Cannon, Tallmadge, Walker, Ada, Vergennes, Georgetown, Wyoming, Paris, Cascade, Jamestown, Byron, Gaines, and Caledonia townships.
